podium studio is a biannual lifestyle magazine that explores fashion, art, culture, and travel through a unique and original perspective, structured over a theme for each issue.
The hunger for something—a deep, insistent longing—is what moves us forward. It is not necessarily about food. It may be the impulse to seek beauty, the urge to create, or the strong drive to learn. The desire to know more, to deepen our understanding, to grasp something fully, or to act upon our curiosity—these impulses nourish our curiosity and sustain our sense of being alive. When we feel drawn to such impulses, we find ourselves connecting with the world a little more deeply. APPETITE is a fundamental energy of sensibility and intellect that moves people. In ISSUE 4, artists and creators reflect on their own forms of appetite. Each expression is different, yet they share something in common: each of them has been moved by something, and has reached out towards it. What is it that you desire now? What stirs your heart? If we listen closely and gradually trace that sensation, we may once again encounter a new world.
In this issue, which has been created under the theme ‘APPETITE’, Artists such as Ignasi Monreal, A.A. murakami and Kazuhito Kawai and creators like Yayako Uchida reflect on their own forms of appetite. Each expression is different, yet we are exploring the fundamental energy that motivates people. Fashion editorials are composed of three different approaches from minimalist intimacy to emphasis on texture, and then to excess, desires and cravings are expressed through tactile sensations and visual intensity.
Also we have chosen Oki island for our island trip. This issue explores the sources of the inner impulses and desires that drives people.
